Arabella Miho Steinbacher, one of Germany's most acclaimed violinists, has been described by the New York Times as having "a balance of lyricism and passion - her strengths lie above all in her finely honed technique and beautifully varied tone" (New York Times Magazine). The long-awaited re-recording of Beethoven's concerto and the world premiere recording of Georges Lenz's violin concerto are now available. Performing with her is the Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg led by Gustavo Gimeno. For Steinbacher, Beethoven is the most sacred and sublime of his repertoire, which he performed with the Orchestre Philharmonique de France on short notice in 2004 when Sir Neville Marriner offered to perform it when Kyung-Wha Chung cancelled his Paris concert. The performance was conducted by Andris Nelsons and performed by the Orchestre National de France. Steinbacher's most famous recording was made in 2008 with the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, conducted by Andris Nelsons, and he decided to re-record it after a 15-year absence.Steinbacher, who has always been eager to find new perspectives on this work, plays Beethoven's current depiction with a lustrous tone. Born in Luxembourg in 1965, Georges Lenz studied composition at the Luxembourg Conservatory, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, and the Hanover University of Music. His works reflect his spiritual beliefs and doubts. The Violin Concerto, which he began composing in 2018 at the request of Steinbacher, is based on the epic poem "Jerusalem" by the extraordinary English poet and painter William Blake (1757-1827), ". .to beam in distant heavens.... I am deeply saddened by the seemingly unstoppable destruction of our planet through war, poverty, etc. One night, I imagined my descendants 100 years from now looking back on our current world with sadness.I put this thought into a movement in the work that I called "An Elegy for ourGrandchildren's Planet. The "distant heavens" may not actually be distant at all; from the point of view of our descendants in 2100, they may be the same as the world we live in today. The solo violin expresses the emotional turmoil between the opposites of "violence" and "angelic love," in this shocking and three-dimensional concerto. It is an adventurous coupling of Beethoven and Lenz, but it is a luminous counterpart to Beethoven. In addition to Steinbacher's profound expression, which was created over time with the composer, the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra led by Jimeno gives a masterful performance that is worthy of a world premiere recording. Steinbacher plays on two different instruments. Beethoven was played on an "Ex Sainton" made by Giuseppe Guarnerius del Gesu (1698-1744) around 1744, and Lenz on an "ExBenno Walter" made by Antonio Stradivari around 1718.
