EST Gees second release of 2023 (following MAD) is a sequel to his debut mixtape. El Toro 2 doesnt turn back the clock -- nor should it, given that El Toro was released only four years earlier -- and is smoother from a production standpoint, pushing the rapper to be a little more melodic than normal. The results are mixed, but the differences help prevent his grieving and conflicted verses from coming across as too routine. This is also more collaborative than the first volume, featuring appearances from the likes of CMG label boss Yo Gotti, Lil Baby, and 42 Dugg, along with a posthumous supporting role for Static Major. ~ TiVo Staff
