Description:

Upright Pleyel played by the genius Lyubimov! The sound of the famous instrument made in 1843, which Chopin would have chosen and played. Alexei Lyubimov is a legendary Russian forte pianist who has earned an enormous reputation and support for his vast and timeless repertoire, outstanding interpretation, and mastery of period technique. For his first appearance on the NIFC label, the genius Lyubimov plays neither a modern piano nor a historical grand piano, but an upright piano (pianino) with serial number 10112, made by the French master craftsman Pleyel in 1843! In 1843, at the Pleyel factory, Chopin selected an upright with serial number 10113 for his apartment and also selected an upright with serial number 10112 for his patron (and neighbor), Natalia Obreskov. It is said that Chopin must have often played this "10112" when he was asked to play socially, and the "10112" that Lyubimov is playing this time is one of the instruments that has a special connection with Chopin! Incidentally, the Musée de la Musique in Paris has a Pleyel grand piano (serial number 7267) purchased by the Obreskov family in 1839 and played by Chopin from 1839 to 1841, which also shows the close relationship between the piano poet and his family.By using the Pleyel upright, which has a close relationship with Chopin, Lyubimov aims to recreate the sound and the world that Chopin and his students heard when they played classical repertoire on this instrument at the Study Salon in Paris, where there was no audience at the time, as well as to transform the works of Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven into the musical image of Chopin's world by using its magic (Pleyel upright), Mozart, and Beethoven, and to use its magic (the Pleyel upright) to transform them into musical images of Chopin's world. The "Chopinization" of the great composers before Chopin by Lyubimov and Pleyel's Upright. What will be the result? Stay tuned! Tokyo M-Plus
