Alexei Lyubimov is a legendary Russian forte pianist who has earned an enormous reputation and support for his vast and timeless repertoire, outstanding interpretation, and mastery of period technique.For his first appearance on the NIFC label, the genius Lyubimov plays neither a modern piano nor a historical grand piano, but an upright piano (pianino) with serial number 10112, made by the French master craftsman Pleyel in 1843! In 1843, at the Pleyel factory, Chopin selected an upright with serial number 10113 for his apartment and also selected an upright with serial number 10112 for his patron (and neighbor), Natalia Obreskov. It is said that Chopin must have often played this "10112" when he was asked to play socially, and the "10112" that Lyubimov is playing this time is one of the instruments that has a special connection with Chopin!
