The second Scriabin album by Oleg Marchev, the piano virtuoso from Azerbaijan! Oleg Marchev, a genius pianist from Baku, Azerbaijan, in the former Soviet Union, has consistently turned down numerous offers from major labels, choosing instead to remain with the Danish label Danacord— , with whom he shares a deep bond of trust. His vast repertoire ranges from rare works—such as the complete six-volume collection of piano works by Emil von Sauer, a late-period disciple of Liszt, and the four-volume collection of piano concertos by little-known Danish composers—to Romantic masterpieces by Brahms, Schubert, Liszt, Chopin, and Mendelssohn, he boasts an immense repertoire. He is also one of the few artists to have recorded all the works for piano and orchestra by the great Russian composers (Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, and Shostakovich). This album is the second in a series dedicated to Scriabin, following the album (DACOCD1000) featuring his early works, including the *Piano Sonata No. 1*. Centered on the *Piano Sonata No. 3*—Marchev’s first recording of this work—this album features six pieces composed between 1896 and 1901, a period when significant changes began to take place in Scriabin’s life and compositional style.
