Description:

The 11th Haydn recording is now available in a limited analog edition! Antonini's project to record all of Haydn's symphonies for the composer's 300th anniversary in 2032 is now available on high-spec analog vinyl. The program is a step forward from the previous releases, which focused on Haydn's middle period works, to a program of two important works from the composer's 50th birthday. The theme is "Favorites of the Parisians. At the time when orchestral concerts were beginning to attract attention as a new form of entertainment, symphonies written in German-speaking countries were popular in Paris, and Haydn was one of the composers who contributed greatly to this boom. His six symphonies No. 82-87 are called "Paris Symphonies" because they were composed for the Concert de la Loge Oranpeque, one of the concerts held in the French capital. The other two symphonies are both early works. The other two pieces are both early works and important "pre-history" works that led to the composition of these pieces. The commentary (in German, English, and French) written by conductor Antonini and musicologist Moritz-Bauer, based on field experience and the latest research, is a fascinating account of this process. The Basel Chamber Orchestra has also incorporated some of the top players from Il Giardino armonico as concertmasters and wind instrumentalists, and their crisp interpretations are on top form here as well, conveying the full significance of using period instruments. From the crispness of No. 2, in which the number of members is reduced to the size of the early Esterházy Court Orchestra, to the opulent sound of "The Bear" in which the trumpet and timpani make their full presence felt, please fully enjoy the charm of Haydn's world, in which a variety of creativity is concealed. 180g vinyl, DMM cutting, 33 1/3rpm, CD included, 36-page booklet, Naxos Japan
