The "Pilgrim's Progress" is a collection of works Liszt composed intermittently from his 20s through his 60s: "Year 1: Switzerland," written in his 20s, contains many brilliant and technical works, while "Year 2: Italy" contains not only lyrical pieces but also a major work, "Reading Dante: a Sonata Fantasy. The "Third Year," published in 1883, includes the brilliant "Fountain at the Villa Este," but the whole is generally religious in tone, in the style of the last years of Liszt's life. Miriam Gomez-Moran is a performer who plays both historical keyboard instruments such as harpsichord and fortepiano, as well as modern piano. Fascinated by Liszt's works from an early age, she earned her doctorate in "Liszt's Piano Performance Method Traced from the Testimonies of His Disciples. Alan Walker, a leading scholar of Liszt who once heard her play "Obermann's Valley," said, "This is the best performance I have ever heard. He praised her technique and the fact that she is a true artist at the keyboard.
