For the past eight years, SQURL has captivated audiences at prestigious venues such as Centre Pompidou in Paris, Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, and the Art Institute of Chicago with live performances set to Ray's short films. The culmination of their work was the premiere of the restored "Return to Reason" at the Cannes Film Festival in the spring of 2023, the 100th anniversary of Man Ray's first film production.Produced by Womanray (Marieke Tricoire) and Cinenovo (Julie Viez), Return to Reason is an anthology of four silent short films by Man Ray: Etoile de mer (1928), Emak bakia (1926 ), Le Retour a la Raison (1923), and Les Mysteres du Chateau de De (1929), developed as an anthology, each combined with the original SQURL score.
