GENUIN's annual German Music Competition Awards CD, featuring two winners in 2017, one of whom is Tilman Heffs on horn. Tilman Hefs was born in Hamburg in 1996. He is the first horn player to win this competition. After studying at the Academy of Music and Theater University in Hamburg, he studied at the Berlin University of the Arts, where he is already a soloist. With the exception of Franz Strauss (Richard's father), who lived almost entirely in the 19th century, all the composers are from the 20th century. The inclusion of a work by conductor Salonen from the year 2000 is particularly eye-catching. Accompanist Akiko Nigami studied at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music and the Berlin University of the Arts after completing graduate studies at the same university, and in 2008 won second prize at the Robert Schumann International Competition.
