This album expands on the characteristics of each of the 20 selected Bach works that inspired Hemsing and mixes them with a playful spirit. Arrangers Tim Alhoff, Jan Peter Klopfel, and Jarkko Riehmäki have infused each work with new color and constructed new versions of Bach's familiar masterpieces. At the core of this project is a common artistic philosophy to expand, rethink, and reconstruct Bach's music without ever compromising it.The arrangers of this work have preserved the underlying hedonistic nature of the work, while allowing the listener to enjoy the charms of Bach's lively and pleasing melodies and harmonies. From the whimsical brilliance of Bach's "Partita No. 3" to the deeply emotional reinterpretation of the "Brandenburg Concerto," they breathe new life into Bach's unique melodies and open up new emotional dimensions while maintaining a deep respect for the original works. In some arrangements, novel harmonies are introduced, and in others, entirely new instrumentation is experimented with.The dense, melodic performance of the Prelude from "Eight Preludes and Fugues" seamlessly transitions into a technical solo violin and string orchestra performance, creating a captivating musical experience. The Aria on the G string incorporates the elegance of an Italian concerto, while "Pity Me, My God" from the Matthew Passion is reinterpreted as a serene, atmospheric instrumental ballad.
