He was Principal Conductor of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra from 2008 to 2015, and is currently Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Arts Centre Orchestra of Canada, and Artistic Director of the Lapland Chamber Orchestra. Stulgårds is one of Finland's most celebrated maestros, having been catapulted into the limelight by the worldwide success of his two 150th anniversary discs, Sibelius: The Complete Symphonies (CHAN 10809) and Nielsen: The Complete Symphonies (CHAN 10859), released in 2014 and 2015, respectively, Stoolgård's newly launched collection of orchestral works by George Antheil (1900-1959) in 2017.Volume 3 contains a collection that spans the entirety of Anttille's life, including the world premiere recordings of The GoldenBird and Nocturne in Skyrockets, as well as his Symphony No. 1 "Zingaleska (Gypsy Style)," written in his early 20s by a young avant-garde musician who was gaining attention as a standard-bearer for the avant-garde.
