World premiere recording of Haas’s *Violin Concerto No. 2*, commissioned by Suntory Hall! Miranda Cookson, Posner & the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra! The world premiere recording of *Violin Concerto No. 2* by Georg Friedrich Haas, one of today’s leading composers. Commissioned by Suntory Hall in 2017, the work received its world premiere on September 7 of that year, featuring violinist Miranda Cookson—known for her wide-ranging repertoire spanning from classical to contemporary music—as soloist, with Ilan Volkov conducting the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. This album features a live recording from a performance held at the Musikverein in Vienna in 2023. Cookson, highly acclaimed in the field of contemporary music, vividly conveys the appeal of this monumental work, which features a unique sound created through microtones and possesses a beautiful, passionate, and powerful narrative quality. The B-side includes the work for solo violin, *deterraefine*. Composed by Haas in 2001 while on vacation along the Irish coast, this piece reflects the loneliness and inner conflict he experienced at the time. It features a striking structure in which tension gradually builds through a single melody incorporating microtones, culminating in a violent eruption of double stops and chords before sinking back into silence.
