Description:
A collection of motets by Eleonora, daughter of Lucrezia Borgia, the most notorious woman in history, Lucrezia Borgia, daughter of Pope Alexander VI at the time, was known for her tumultuous and politically exploited life. Her life was full of turmoil and scandal. Lucrezia's third marriage was to Alfonso I d'Este, the legitimate son of Ercole d'Este, Duke of Ferrara. She gave birth to six children with Alfonso. No details are known about the life of their daughter Eleonora d'Este, who entered a convent among them, but we do know that she was a gifted composer in a book published in Venice in 1543. The book, which is anonymous, mentions the monastery of Corpus Domini in Ferrara and is believed to suggest that Eleonora was an unidentified composer. This is early polyphonic music for nuns, as revealed by studies by Musica Secreta and Celestial Sirens. King International.
