London Coral Sinfonia: A Leading Force in Contemporary British Choral Music A Collection of Works by Edward Picton-Turberville, a Promising British Composer Founded in 2015 by Michael Waldron, the choral ensemble London Coral Sinfonia has been actively recording for Orchid Classics. Their latest release features three works by Edward Picton-Tarberville. Born in 1993, Turberville is active as a pianist and organist, as well as a writer, and has recently made remarkable strides as a composer. His works—particularly his vocal compositions—are frequently featured on BBC Radio, making him a young artist to watch. At the heart of the album is *Out of Eden*, a meditative work that depicts the relationship between humanity and the natural world on a grand scale. Written for the London Coral Sinfonia and a small instrumental ensemble, this work creates a rich sonic world from a limited instrumentation. The music, woven from the textures of the chorus, solo voices, and instruments, unfolds as it shifts between moments of tranquility and scenes filled with tension. In addition, *Spell of Creation* and *Spell of Sleep*—inspired by the poetry of Kathleen Lane—offer a more intimate and delicate contrast, while the instrumental suite *Songs of Eden* reflects the same themes in a condensed form.
