The reverberations of a lo-fi piano, the wavering tones of an analog synth, and grungy, gritty electronic textures. Overlaying all this is Emika’s signature vocals—distinct in both lyrics and delivery. This experimental and reflective soundscape, imbued not with noise but with an “emotionally charged edge,” drifts between futuristic shoegaze and futuristic trip-hop. "I created this with record shops and album lovers in mind, even before streaming and playlists," says Emika, describing this ambitious work as a step outside her usual "blueprint." A major turning point in the production was a conversation with Jim Barr (Portishead). Inspired by the idea of “using the studio not as a place for completion, but as a space for improvisation,” she embarked on a week-long jam session at a studio in Bristol. The result is a unique soundscape where experimentation and intimacy coexist. A special album that captures a “different side” of Emika.
