The long-awaited second volume of the complete Mozart symphonies by Emelianichev and his hand-picked Il Pomo d'Oro is now available, and it is remarkable that the popular No. 40 in G minor is the main attraction. Emelianichev first gained attention for his brilliant bass playing in Musica Eterna's recording of the "Da Ponte Trilogy" under Kulenzis, and now he is gaining high acclaim for his baroque opera albums with Il Pomo d'Oro. Originally a thoroughbred trained by Rozhestvensky at the Moscow Conservatory, the recording was made after much thought, including careful calculation of the directivity of the sound and its change with the number of players. This recording is a coupling of No. 29 and No. 40. The tempo of the first movement of No. 40 is astonishingly fast. However, due to the careful performance, the tempo does not feel even a little violent. In fact, the interpretation is so convincing that it even seems appropriate for Mozart's temperamental and high state of mind, and is sure to cause controversy. The fill-up this time is the oboe concerto.Born in Russia in 1986, this gifted young talent has been a student of Maurice Burg, and after working with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and Mahler Chamber Orchestra, has been principal of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra since 2016.
