Ian Carr (tp) was a leading figure in the British Jazz scene from the mid-60's to his later years, starting with his twin group with Don Rendell, and was a major influence on both the British Jazz and Progressive Rock scenes. This newly remastered 6-CD compilation box set from '19 compiles 9 albums from the group's early/mid 70's tenure with Vertigo, and includes Ian Carr's debut album "ELASTIC ROCK" from 1970 to their final album "ALLEYCAT" from 1975. The complete collection of all nine Studio 9 albums, including works under the name Ian Carr/Ian Carr's NUCLEUS (Ian Carr with NUCLEUS), are included on Discs 1 to 6.Starting with their debut album, which showcased the influence of Miles Davis, which was the last album of the Rendell/Carr Quintet, the mother band of the group, the group has continued to pursue their own musicality while reflecting their contemporaries, creating a style and trend of Jazz Rock/Cross Over in the U.K. The group's great footprints are Chris Spedding (g), Allan Holdsworth (g), Jeff Clyne (b), Gordon Beck (b), Roger Sutton (b), and Karl Jenkins (ob/bs/key), Dave MacRae(eke-p/key), John Marshall(dr), Trevor Tomkins(dr/per), Aureo de Souza(dr/per), Tony Coe(sax/flu), Phil Todd(sax) and others from Canterbury Music The album features a wide range of talented musicians active in the UK Rock/Jazz scene, including Canterbury Music,This box set is a must-have/ must-listen for all British Rock/Jazz fans, from beginners who have never heard of it to enthusiasts!
