Description:
The fifth in a series of systematic recordings of Stradella's works, La Doriclare, composed in Rome in the early 1670s, is considered Stradella's first opera, but it is not the best known of his works. It is in the tradition of the 17th century Spanish Golden Age theater that dominated the world at the time, and is elegant and joyful, with a lyricism that is deeply moving. The joyful atmosphere of the baritone clown in Giraldo was carried over to Rossini.The lineup includes many of the leading instrumentalists in European classical music today, including Emeke Barat, who has been active at the Royal Opera House in Versailles, and Xavier Sabata, one of the new generation of countertenors making waves around the world. For example, violinist Zefira Valova has recorded a collection of Vivaldi concertos for Alpha, Sviridov has recorded a collection of Tartini sonatas for Ricercar, string player Daniel Zapico has given a well-received tour of Japan, and Simone Valerotonda has released a solo album for Arcana. The expectations for the orchestra may be even higher with the fact that Daniel Zapico, a string player, has recorded a collection of Tartini sonatas for Ricercar, and Simone Valle Rotonda has also recorded a solo masterpiece for Arcana.
