Lucy Russell, a member of the Fitzwilliam String Quartet, one of the world's oldest string ensembles, and John Batt, a musician and director of the Dunedin Consort, present a collection of Bach's violin sonatas! John Butt, a renowned scholar of J.S. Bach's music, has also written a number of Bach's works, including "The John Passion (CKD 419)," "The Matthew Passion (CKD 313)" in its "final performance circa 1742," "The Mass in B minor (CKD 354)" in Rifkin's Brightcopse edition, "The Passion in CKD 354" and "The Passion in CKD 355," which is a "reproduction of the Passion performed at the liturgy. He has made a name for himself around the world by discovering and restoring various different manuscripts of Bach's works, including the "Brandenburg Concerto (CKD 313)" and the "Breitkopf Edition of Rifkin's Mass in B minor (CKD 354). He is also a superb keyboard player, as demonstrated in the "Brandenburg Concerto (CKD 430)" and the "Mean Clavier Works (CKD 463)". Lucy Russell is a veteran female violinist who joined the Fitzwilliam String Quartet in 1988 and has been its leader since 1995, as well as playing in various ensembles such as the Dunedin Consort, Florilegium, Retrospect Ensemble, and King's Consort. She is a veteran female violinist.Under the keen interpretation of Bach specialist John Butt, the excellent violin and harpsichord dialogue draws from Bach's complex fugues with humor and playful movement, rhythm, and rich expression.
