Shigetaka Ikemotoisles, a large ensemble with a lot of charm! Shigetaka Ikemoto isles (ikemoto Shigetaka Large Ensemble), one of the leading members of the large ensemble scene in contemporary Japan, has released its second album. Speaking of Ikemoto, NEO-SYMPHONIC JAZZ at Geigeki in July this year (2024) is still fresh in our memory. Under the direction of Maria Schneider, isles was selected as the band for the large ensemble part playing her compositions, and they gave a joyful and vivid performance. The band received great acclaim from Maria. This album was recorded live at the Cotton Club in April. A year earlier, Ikemoto had held a concert for the release of his long-awaited first album, and this was his triumphant return to the stage. Ikemoto himself arranged all the songs, six of which are originals. Four of the songs also featured guest vocalist Ema.The band's contemporary sound, which aims for big band sound pressure and combo interplay, is remarkable, while also showing a royal flair different from that of the previous album, starting with a standard. The band's live presence, exquisite ensembles, hot solos, and driving rhythms are a testament to the band's strong performance.
