Kunitachi College of Music Chorus

Description:

It's not just the Chikugo River! Listen to one of his beautiful songs from the Nagasaki Road! "The sorrow of departure is a fresh joy ......" We would like to introduce you to a beautiful song buried by Ikuma Dan. Nagasaki Kaido is a true gem of a choral work, the result of an encounter between poet Takashi Tsujii and composer Ikuma Dan, and is unusually innovative for a choral work in that it includes a recitation, solo soprano, and solo flute. Spring in Dazaifu, Magaibutsu, Karatsu in the Rain, Kujuukushima, Good Night Nagasaki ......, and various poets' sentiments are sung with narration and intermezzo. In particular, the eternal, genial feeling of cherry blossoms in "Spring in Dazaifu," the whistling lightness of "Mogaibutsu" and "Goodnight Nagasaki" are all sung with narration and intermezzo. The light of hope from the depths of deep repose in "Goodnight Nagasaki" is a must-hear! The reading will be performed by Kazuo Kobayashi, a tenor highly acclaimed for his opera "Yuzuru" and other works, with Emi Sawahata as solo soprano and Yoko Owada, who was involved in many premieres of Ikuma Dan's works, as fluteist. All of the players are closely related to Ikuma Dan. The chorus is the National College of Music Chorus led by Hiroshi Nagai, a regular participant in the NHK Symphony Orchestra's Ninth Concert. Also included are two posthumous works for female chorus, "Summer Hat" and "Autumn Thoughts," which were on the music stand of Ikuma's beloved piano at his home when he left home. Three Shells
