Two Chinese Violin Concertos, Old and New, Recorded with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra by Chinese violinist Ji Jung Wang, winner of the Junior Division of the 1998 Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition and highly acclaimed by Menuhin himself! The Butterfly", a violin concerto based on the Chinese folk tale "Liang Shan Bo and Zhu Yingtai", which dates back over 1,700 years, and "The Butterfly Lovers", a violin concerto based on the Chinese folk tale "Liang Shan Bo and Zhu Yingtai". The Butterfly Lovers. Composed in 1959 by He Zhanghao and Chen Gan, who were both students at the Shanghai Music Academy, "The Butterfly Lovers" became a popular work in China. It is an impressive piece with a gorgeous and beautiful Chinese melody. This world premiere recording of Shen Ye's Violin Concerto pays homage to this work. This piece connects the heart of "The Butterfly Lovers" to the present day, expressing the praise of life and the strength of human beings.It was premiered in Shanghai in January 2019, conducted by Lio Kwok Man (Liao Guomin) and performed by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and Ji Jung Wang.
