The second in the series of Salieri's works by the period radical Pfai, the second installment in Pfai's Salieri series, which had already been announced with the release of the previous "Overtures and Ballet Music" (98.506), is finally here. As with the first volume, this release contains many world premiere recordings and is of great documentary value, but above all, it is the power of Fai's dazzling performance that is overwhelming. The percussion accents, the exploding brass, the bouncing string rhythms, and everything else is just as intense as ever, and yet it is also a tremendous pleasure to listen to.
