Description:

This is the first collaboration between two of France's most talented singers. The subject matter is the trad of Tras o Montes in northeastern Portugal, but there is a hint of post-punk in the air, without falling into a scholarly style. Glossy, raw, and heretical, chants of work and celebration, songs of indignation, and more are uttered by two voices both far and near each other in a chromatic, playful appropriation of the plastic regional idiom of the Mirandes language. A piece reminiscent of Rough Trade-era Robert Wyatt: 10 songs, 30 minutes long, but very dense.
