First album released in 1970 on Fania Records by Apollo Sound, the salsa band of the famous Puerto Rican percussionist who was also a great percussionist of the Fania All-Stars. Roena y su Apollo Sound was considered one of the best salsa bands in Puerto Rico. On this album, one can hear the "new" sound of salsa music, introduced by Loena, with two trumpets, trombone, and saxophone. The album includes hits, "Tu Loco Loco, y Yo Tranquilo," "El Escapulario," and the classic "Sonando con Puerto Rico" from the pen of Bobby Capó, who gained popularity with his "Apollo Sound." Johnny Pacheco as recording director and prolific composer Taite Curlet Alonso as creative musical director and liner notes writer round out the 10-song set, which includes the Brad, Sweat & Tears song " Spinning Wheel" cover.
