Live Scriabin Piano Sonatas Played Live by SofronitskyFrom ProfilIn 2015, 110 years after the composer's death, the "Complete Works" of Scriabin's piano sonatas are now available. With the exception of Neigaus' No. 1 and Richter's No. 7, the album consists entirely of live performances played by Scriabin's daughter-in-law Sofronitsky. Sofronitsky, who studied under Chopin's grandson Aleksander Michalowski, is also a famous Chopin player, and although he did not have the opportunity to be trained by Scriabin himself, his poetic nuances and unique soft touch, similar to those of Chopin, may have reminded him of Scriabin's piano playing. His widow probably recognized him as a great pianist. His widow even recognized him as an exceptional Scriabin performer.The live performances of Sofronitsky's No. 1 (only the funeral march) and No. 2, and Richter's No. 7 were held at the Scriabin Museum, which is also interesting in that the composer's own piano was used. It is the instrument on which Scriabin composed three of his compositions from No. 8 onward, and is known to have been played by Rachmaninoff, Horowitz, Eugena, Pletnyov, and other distinguished composers to the present day.
