Riccardo Chailly and the Gewandhaus Orchestra of Leipzig are pleased to announce the release of a DVD-box of monumental concerts by both Riccardo Chailly and the Gewandhaus Orchestra of Leipzig, who served as Kapellmeister of the Gewandhaus Orchestra of Leipzig for about 11 years since 2005. The venerable Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, which celebrated its 275th anniversary in 2017, has been led by Mendelssohn, Furtwängler, Mazur, Blomstedt, and Chailly, who served as Kapellmeister of the orchestra for 11 years since 2005. As of 2018, a new generation of maestros, Andris Nelsons, is the 21st Kapellmeister of the Gewandhaus Orchestra. DVD 1 includes the concert of Chailly's inauguration as Music Director. DVD 1 includes the concert of Shai's inauguration as Music Director, featuring works by Mendelssohn, a composer associated with the orchestra.DVD2 features the Schumann program with Argerich as soloist, and DVD3 features Rossini's "Little Missa Solemnis. DVD3 is Rossini's "Little Missa Solemnis. DVD3 features Rossini's "Little Missa Solemnis," a concert held to commemorate the 140th anniversary of Rossini's death. It is performed in the orchestral accompaniment version created by the composer himself.
