The latest recording of "Brahms: Piano Concerto No. 2" by Francesco Piemontage is now available. The concerto is conducted by Manfred Honeck and performed by the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. The performance is a perfect blend of symphonic majesty, technical brilliance, and intimate musical dialogue. Piemontage's teacher, Alfred Brendel, recorded "Brahms: Piano Concerto No. 2" twice, once in 1973 with Haitink & Concertgebouw Orchestra, which is impressive for its sensitive and poetic expression. On the other hand, the 1991 recording with Abbado and the Berliner Philharmoniker stands out for its larger scale, more beautiful construction, and thicker sound. What both recordings have in common is Brendel's intelligent and introspective approach, and they are masterful performances that show a high affinity with the profound music of Brahms. In this recording, Brendel's deep musicality is evident throughout, while Piemontage's brilliant and powerful touch resonates with Honeck's precise and passionate conducting, bringing rich depth and new life to Brahms's masterpiece.
