Gardiner's masterful performance with a hand-picked orchestra! The sound is light and full, with a low center of gravity, and a series of exciting tensions and relaxations. Hats off to the virtuoso Debreceni for his expressive powers of transformation! Gardiner & the English Baroque Soloists present their latest recording, a collection of Bach concertos with violinist Kati Debreceni, who has been playing with the orchestra since 2000. She has been the leader of the Age of Inquiry Orchestra since 2008, and is an accomplished soloist in many other capacities. The restored version of the harpsichord concerto is her own version, which conveys the full charm of the music and the expressive power of the instrument. Debreceni's solo performance is flowing, with a mellow, beautiful tone, but he also plays some phrases in a non-legato, piercing manner, and adds furious accents on the strong beats, creating a wide range of expression based on his rich imagination. The orchestra, which has a limited number of players, participates in the conversation with a high degree of freedom, even down to the harpsichord, and when they are in tune, they are in tune with each other perfectly.The performance is quite spectacular, including the first movement of BWV 1042 before the da capo and the climax of the last movement of BWV 1052. Gardiner's conducting was also superb, as he tightened the reins firmly and controlled the music without losing sight of the core of the music. King International
