The "Theresia Mass" features Mary Bevan and an all-star cast of singers! The Handel & Haydn Society (HHS), the oldest period orchestra in the United States, and Harry Christophers, the 13th Music Director of the HHS in 2008, present the eighth in a series of live Haydn symphony concerts! Symphony No. 103" is the second to last of the 12 "London Symphonies" composed during his visit to London from 1791 to 1795, and is nicknamed "Drumroll" because of the impressive long timpani barrage at the beginning and end of the first movement. The "Teresia Mass," composed in 1799, is one of Haydn's six great late Haydn symphonies. Although not large in size, it is one of Haydn's masterpieces overflowing with beautiful melodies.The lineup of singers is the same lineup that was well received in the previous Nelson Mass (COR16181), and includes Kathleen Wynne-Rogers, Jeremy Budd, and Sumner Thompson, with Mary Bevan, a soprano of the moment who was awarded an MBE in 2019. Harry Christophers, who is highly acclaimed for his performances on ancient instruments, and the HHS virtuoso duo give a full and rich performance. Tokyo M-Plus
