This video is a recording of "Adina" performed in 2018. It is a short work of about an hour and a half, and the story is simple and clear. Khalifo, the Bailiff of Baghdad, was to marry Adina, a young girl who grew up in the back palace. However, his lover Selimo, whom he thought was dead, suddenly appears before Adina. On the eve of their wedding, they attempt to escape from the palace, but Carifo catches them and sentences Celimo to death. Adina pleads with CARIFO to cancel the sentence, but CARIFO refuses to listen and Adina faints and collapses. Adina faints and collapses, and when CARIFO sees what Adina was wearing, he realizes that Adina is in fact his daughter, and Adina and Celimo are united in marriage. The story is simple, but the production has a glamorous atmosphere with a number of sparkling arias and the sounds of a musical orchestra.Director Rosetta Cucchi has created an exciting production by placing a huge, brightly colored wedding cake at the center of the stage.
