Live recordings made in 2015 by the masters of the prestigious Escola "Portela" are now available on CD.Founded in the 1020s in the Oswaldo Cruz district, the Gremio Recreativo Escola de Samba Portela is one of Rio de Janeiro's oldest samba One of the oldest samba schools in Rio de Janeiro. It is a prestigious samba team that has produced a wide variety of composers and singers over the decades, and has marked the history of samba and Brazilian popular music. Monarco, the symbol of Portela, who sadly passed away in 2009, is still alive and well. In addition, the group has included such big-name guests as Cristina Buarruchi, Maria Hita, and Teresa Cristina, and this gorgeous live performance has finally been released on CD.
