Spring Festival" heard in piano and orchestral versionsThe "Rite of Spring," written for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, is known to have caused severe confusion when it was first performed. Today, it is firmly established repertoire, but the dancers' completely unconventional movements and the roar of the orchestra, which could be described as violent, certainly revolutionized the conception of ballet up to that time. This groundbreaking work also has a piano version, which is often performed as part of the piano duo repertoire. Listening to the piano version will help you understand the chaotic framework of the orchestral version. The piano duo of Trenkner & Speidel, who have performed brilliantly in the piano duo version of Mahler's symphonies and other works, are here in a performance of great brilliance.
