Gringoltz takes on the unlikely and unexpected Stravinsky Violin Collection! This is an album of Stravinsky's violin music by Gringolts. It is a collection of Stravinsky's originals and his own arrangements, not arrangements by famous violinists. Stravinsky did not like stringed instruments because they "reminded him too much of human voices," but his encounter with violinists Kohanski and Dushkin led to the creation of violin pieces for them. In "The Firebird," Kohanski arranged the "Rondo for Princesses" and "Lullaby" for Kohanski, and the "Scherzo" for Dushkin. Of interest is the "Pulcinella Suite," Stravinsky's often-performed "Italian Suite," which he co-wrote with Dushkin in 1933, but not the first version, so to speak, which he arranged for Kohanski in 1925.Consisting of five pieces, it is more technical and dazzling in its effects than the "Italian Suite."
