An astonishingly precise ensemble. The "Trio Zimmermann", a group of world-class musicians, recorded Hindemith and Schoenberg! SACD hybrid disc. The Trio Zimmermann, formed by Frank Peter Zimmermann, Antoine Tamestit, and Christian Portella, has recorded Beethoven (BIS SA 1857 / KKC 5222), Mozart, and Schubert (BIS SA 1817 / KKC 5202) on the BIS label. KKC 5202), all of which were specially selected by Record Geijutsu (Recorded Arts). The highly anticipated new album features works by Hindemith and Schoenberg, representative composers of the 20th century. In 2013, the 50th anniversary of Hindemith's death, F.P. Zimmermann released an album of violin concertos and violin sonatas (BIS SA 2024/ KKC 5320), which was highly praised by various magazines.Hindemith (1895-1963) was not only a composer, but also a violinist and violist, and his string works were widely appreciated. In 1938, he moved to Switzerland, and from 1940-47, to avoid the war, he lived in the United States. His String Trio No. 1 was premiered in Salzburg in 1924, and his String Trio No. 2 in Antwerpen in 1933. Schoenberg, one of the most influential composers of the 20th century as the founder of 12-tone music, fled to the U.S. in 1933 to avoid the rise of the Nazis. He fled to exile in the United States.The String Trio in a single movement, first performed in Boston in 1947, is a masterpiece from the last years of Schoenberg's life, when he was the standard-bearer of twelve-tone music.
