Founded in the 1670s, the Choir of St. John's College Cambridge continues to be one of the finest collegiate choirs in the world, and since becoming Music Director in 2007, they have created numerous masterpieces together. The second release in 2023 by conductor Androu Nesinga is a collection of choral works from the "new century", all of which are by living composers. Commissioning contemporary works and new works by living composers is one of the hallmarks of the choir's activities, as it enjoys working with talented student composers, singers, and instrumentalists, and this album celebrates the wide range of styles in 21st century choral music with commissioned works by a variety of composers. The recordings were made at various times during the year 2022, in between the well-received "Magnificat Series," also on the Signum label, and while the members have changed, they have consistently maintained the continuity of their sound world.
