Cala Signum New Recording! A collection of undiscovered clarinet concertos from the UK! The idea for this album began with some scores Peter Sigleris stumbled upon when he went to the Royal Academy of Music to search for the Stanford manuscript. Four of these pieces in particular caught his interest, written by English composers in the first half of the 20th century. The four pieces were composed during World War II, and they show how British music changed from the influence of late Romanticism and nationalism to the modernist style. This transition is portrayed in the four "rediscovered" pieces on this album. British clarinetist Peter Sigleris is active in the United Kingdom and elsewhere as a soloist and chamber musician, including as principal clarinetist of the Indian Symphony Orchestra with Charles Dutoit.
