Improvised repetitions of Mozart's early sonatas! Tom Begin, who considers performance as a part of his research and has been releasing significant albums interpreting mainly 18th and 19th century works with both rigor as a scholar and researcher and flexibility as a performer, presents a new recording of Mozart's piano sonatas! This album is based on the historical record that when Mozart's father Leopold approached Breitkopf und Härtel in October 1775 about publishing his son's works, he proposed the publication of sonatas with variation repetitions like C.P.E. Bach's. The first six sonatas that were never published during Mozart's lifetime, K. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, are included in this collection. Based on the historical record that Mozart proposed the publication of the first six sonatas K.279-284, the so-called "Durnitz Sonatas" or "Munich Sonatas," which were never published during his lifetime, we have produced a new score in which the repetitions are improvised from the hypothetical perspective of "what if they had been published? The new score is not only a performance of these works 250 years after their composition, but also a presentation of "living music" that can be freely changed based on the conventions of the time, and will once again convey Mozart's improvisational and creative spirit to today's listeners.The instrument is a copy by Chris Marne based on a 1786 fortepiano made by Johann Andreas Stein, which Mozart tried and praised in 1777.
