A stunning fusion of influences rooted in Arabic culture and the classical jazz of the 1950s and 1960s Yazz Ahmed's debut album "Finding My Way Home" is now available on color vinyl! This album is a perfect fusion of her Arabic cultural influences and classical jazz influences from the 1950s and 1960s, and Yazz's trumpet tone captivates the listener and strongly evokes her musical explorations. Released in 2011, the album draws inspiration from Yazz's grandfather, jazz trumpeter Terry Brown, and features a mix of original compositions and improvisations. It features "Conciliation," a song from the soundtrack to Steve Buscemi's film "The Listener," as well as Yazz's original composition "Flip Flop," performed by a quintet in a classic jazz setting, with percussionist Corrina Silvester and bass clarinetist Shabaka Hutchings, offering a glimpse into the evolution of her music. This is a piece of Yazz Ahmed's music, a fusion of jazz and Arabic music.
