The essence of Bach that Noé Inui has arrived at after more than 10 years of exploration. A complete recording of the Unaccompanied works, blending historical performance practice with a contemporary approach! Import edition with Japanese liner notes! ARSProduktion presents a complete recording of J.S. Bach’s “Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin” by Noe Inui, a rising star violinist who embodies the traditions and cultures of both Europe and Japan! Having grown up listening to Henrik Schering’s seminal recording and having performed Bach’s works in competitions and other venues, Noé Inui studied for over 10 years, beginning in 2003, under Professor Helga Tene, renowned for her research on Bach’s unaccompanied works. He fundamentally reexamined the playing techniques he had acquired in his youth and arrived at true musical joy. The enthusiastic response to his complete cycle concert held in Düsseldorf in February 2025 served as the impetus for this recording. In Partita No. 3, she boldly employs “jeu inégal” (unequal playing), which resembles the swing of jazz. Furthermore, in Partita No. 2—which includes the famous “Chaconne”—listeners can discern an approach based on the interpretation advocated by his mentor, Professor Tene, who described it as “a tombo (epitaph) for his first wife, Maria Barbara.” From the expansive fugas to the intricate ornamentation, Noe Inui’s intellect and passion have come to fruition, resulting in an album that serves as a culmination of his current artistic journey—one that strikes “a balance between conservative interpretation and interpretation grounded in historical evidence.” “I would be overjoyed if this recording and my words were widely shared and, above all, if they served as an opportunity for a new generation of performers and music lovers to (re)discover this gem of the unaccompanied violin repertoire and set out on their own musical journeys.” (Noe Inui) (1/2) Tokyo M Plus
