Beyond" as deciphered by medieval music professionals, the world of raw 15th century Italian polyphonic musicLa Reverdi, an elite Italian ancient music ensemble, has been following the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance since the 20th century with emphasis on the music of this period. The ensemble conveys its deep fascination through its highly thematic programs, unique music selections, and performances full of outstanding musicality. This year's theme is Ferrara from the early to mid-15th century. The Este family, which established one of the most important cultural courts in northern Italy, patronized a wide range of artisans long before it took on the patronage of such cultural figures as the brilliant Leonardo da Vinci and the poet Tasso, The manuscripts (now in the library in Modena), which date from the 15th century, show the works of leading musicians from the courts of Burgundy and England, as far north as the Alps, and give us a glimpse into the artistic aesthetic sensibility of the successive Dukes of Ferrara. This disc is based on this manuscript and focuses on polyphonic music by four important composers from England and the Netherland, which was known as a leading musical center at the time. The music is not a capella, but rather, it is a true expression of the tonal beauty of the style of the time, as vivid as a carefully cleaned Renaissance oil painting, with the appropriate inclusion of various string and wind instruments while examining the customs of court music of the time.Please enjoy the pleasant interplay between the purity of La Reverdy's ancient singing and the outstanding virtuosity of the ancient instrumental sounds, backed up by his solid career.
