Nikolai Myaskovsky is a modern Russian composer. He is known for writing an unusually large number of symphonies (27) as a composer after Beethoven, as well as 13 string quartets, 9 piano sonatas, and other works in various genres. This album features two of his lesser-known song cycles. You can enjoy these dense works with understated beauty. The violin sonata is placed at the end of the album, following the program of the concert where these three works were premiered in Moscow in 1947.
