Music played in Viennese salons at the beginning of the 20th century] This is an album of chamber music composed between 1896 and 1923 by five composers who were active mainly in Vienna. This is a collection of masterpieces that are still fascinating today, and were at the forefront of the art of the time, which astonished music lovers who gathered in the salons in search of new sounds. Berg's Chamber Concerto features the composer himself, and Schoenberg's Chamber Symphony features an arrangement by Webern. Both of these arrangements are wonderful, concentrating the essence of the works by reducing the size of the original small orchestration even further. Mahler's songs, whose melodic beauty is enhanced by the flute, were arranged for Payu by the contemporary composer Ronald Kornfeil. The album's appeal is its splendid cast of performers.
