Description:
Jim Mateos (g) of FATES WARNING teams up with FM's Steve Overland to create the supreme second volume! A miraculous fusion of Jim Mateos, the absolute leader of FATES WARNING, who reigns supreme in the scene as one of the oldest progressive metal bands, and FM's Steve Overland. KINGS OF MERCIA is a band that crosses the ocean between the U.S. and the U.K. The name of the band is based on the Kingdom of Mercia, which flourished in England during the time of the Seven Kingdoms. In fact, KINGS OF MERCIA was born in 2021 when Jim started his own project and was introduced to Steve at the suggestion of British journalist Dave Ring, who also worked with world-renowned drummer Simon Phillips in FATES WARNING and with ARMORED SAINT leader/bassist Joey Vella also joined the band to create this interdisciplinary super band.In 2022, Steve released his debut album, "Kings Of Mercia," which showcased a hard rock sound with a melodic bent, utilizing Steve's mature singing ability, but Jim Mateos' songs created a one-of-a-kind HR/HM that was anything but simple and left fans in a state of shock. The band's first album, "The Rise and Fall", was released in 2006. The second album, produced by the same members as the debut, continues the exchange between Jim and Steve that continued after the previous album, resulting in a collection of songs that have been further refined and polished. The second album, the second album by the same members, is a masterpiece that further evolved as a band, combining Steve's bluesy, melancholy, and overwhelming vocals, the guitar work and arrangements by Jim Mateos, and the vibrant rhythms of Simon and Joey.
