Description:
The complete Brahms cycle by Celibidacke in his 40s, this Brahms Zycles is a masterful performance by Celibidacke in his 40s with the RAI Symphony Orchestra of Milan in a short period of time. The excessive fervor of the Berlin period has disappeared, and the tendency to slow down more steadily in the latter half of the piece, which is typical of the approach of his later years, can already be seen. However, the tempo setting is reasonable and sensible. This is a performance that one can put one's finger on as a masterful performance of the orthodox school. In the finale of No. 1, there is a unique expression like dotted dots, which no one else has done. In No. 2, he sings to his heart's content, refraining from Furtwängler-esque "Attilerand". The heroic expression of No. 3 is also excellent. The highlight is No. 4, in which Celibidacke shuns his usual rationality and lets himself be carried away by Furtwängler's dreamy, ephemeral opening and prodigal romance. Many people frown upon Italian symphony orchestras because of their lousy brass and thin strings, but in this performance, under Celibidacke's strict direction, the sound is magnificent and profound. This performance was once introduced as a domestic disc when Celibidacke was a miraculous figure. It was also recommended by Record Geijutsu magazine for its excellent sound quality.This time, the reissue is based on the sound source provided by the remnants of MOVIMENTO MUSICA, which has the original recording, and the scratches on the tape have been corrected as much as possible, and furthermore, the UHQCD version has been revived with brilliant sound quality.
