Description:

The talented Russian-born Medjieva, whose performances in recent years have been highly acclaimed as "developing the style of a master" at such a young age, recorded the epic "Sonata in B minor" in the 200th anniversary year of the birth of Liszt. In the 200th anniversary year of Liszt's birth, Medjieva recorded the epic "Sonata in B minor" to coincide with the memorial year of Liszt's birth. Medjieva is known for her fresh interpretations of Chopin's works, but this time she also demonstrates her ability as a Liszt player without regret. She takes a head-on approach to this masterpiece sonata, which has been performed by great pianists of the past and present, and conveys the splendor of the work with an honest and straightforward interpretation. With a profound and solid sense of construction that focuses on the work's fundamentals, this masterful performance makes full use of legato techniques reminiscent of the pianism of the 19th century Romantic era, a strong technique, and ten million different tones to beautifully depict the full range of Liszt's music. In addition to such "promised" masterpieces as "Dream of Love" and "La Campanella," the coupling was chosen to include a number of small pieces from Liszt's later years that are mysterious and uniquely beautiful. The result is a 2-CD album full of Liszt's diverse charms. The composer is alone, facing the score, facing himself, and asking himself the endless questions of the composer. The endless questions to the composer became questions to his own inner self. Only through long hours of solitary work can the sound be refined and emerges with a purified spirit" (Yasuo Taniguchi, from the liner notes) Wakabayashi Studio
