Description:
The masters have finally teamed up in the street for a collection of Beethoven's 10 violin sonatas, the essence of the musician's innovative chamber music works, which will finally be presented to the world by this rare violinist, who celebrates the 60th anniversary of his performing career in 2022 and his 80th birthday in 2023. Maebashi recorded "Spring (No. 5)" and "Kreutzer (No. 9)," two of Beethoven's most popular violin sonatas, with pianist Christoph Eschenbach and released them in 1993, but never took up Beethoven's sonatas in a recording after that. After that, he never recorded Beethoven's sonatas, and this is the first recording of the complete works in more than 30 years. Spring" and "Kreutzer" are re-recordings, and one can hear the deepening of Maebashi's art in the 30 years that have passed. His partner this time is Vahan Mardirossian, a pianist and conductor from Armenia, who is also active as a conductor. The two musicians, who have performed together in Maebashi in Japan for the past several years and trust each other's artistry, will record 10 sonatas written by Gakusei for violin and piano over a period of more than two weeks from 2023 to 2024 at the Clarazal, a famous indoor concert hall in Gifu, Japan. The set will be released as a SACD hybrid disc set.
