Produced by Josh Tillman and Drew Erickson (Mitski, Lana Del Rey, Weyes Blood), with executive producers Jonathan Wilson (Father John Misty, Angel Olsen, Conor Michael Harris provided engineering and additional production, with arrangements by Drew Erickson.Also playing on the album were Josh Tillman, Drew Erickson, Jonathan Wilson, Dan Bailey, Eli Thomson, David Vandervelde, Chris Dixie Darley, Jon Titterington, and Kyle Flynn, The album was recorded and mixed at Five Star, East/West, United, and Drew's home. The album cover art is by Joe Roberts (LSD World Peace). The album, which spans a total of 50 minutes, features eight tracks, including the singles "I Guess Time Makes Fools of Us All," "She Cleans Up," "Screamland," and "Josh Tillman and The Accidental Dose.Released with "Greatish Hits: I Followed My Dreams and My Dreams Said to Crawl," "I Guess Time Makes Fools of Us All" was named one of Pitchfork's "26 Contenders for Song of the Summer" and Esquire's "25 Best Songs of 2024, So Far". Screamland" and "Josh Tillman and The Accidental Dose" were mixed by BJ Burton, and Low's Alan Sparhawk is featured on guitar on the seven-minute opus "Screamland." Mahashmashana is Sanskrit for "the great crematorium," to which all things go.Father John Misty has received praise from Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, The Guardian, and others, and has performed on Saturday NightLive, Austin City Limits, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and Late Night with Seth Meyers. As a songwriter, he has contributed to hits by Beyonce, Post Malone, Lady Gaga, and Khalid.
