As the title suggests, this interesting CD features only preludes, including well-known pieces by Bach, Chopin, Debussy, Rachmaninoff, and Ravel, as well as works by Ukrainian-born Felix Blumenfeldt (1863-1931), Anton Arensky (1861-1906), and others, Samuil Feinberg (1890-1962), and others. Karim Shehata was a German pianist born in Kuwait. His parents, Egyptian and German, moved to Germany when he was five years old. His younger brother Nabil Shehata is the principal double bass player of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom he has performed on a CD (GEN 17448), and the brothers also visited Japan in 2018, where they made a splash.
