Czech album by the Athos TrioThe Athos Trio, named after the initials of (A)nnette - (T)h(o)mas - (S)tefan, was formed in 2003. They have released "French Album" (B-108073) and "Russian Album" (B-108083) so far, offering a wide variety of performances of rare pieces. This album features two major Czech compositions, Dvorak and Smetana. Dvořák's light and shadow are beautifully portrayed with rich Bohemian emotion. Smetana's work was composed in mourning for the death of his daughter, who died at the age of four, and although it does not have the ethnic flavor of Smetana's later works, it is a beautiful work that sublimates grief.
