Bach in the Italian style, arranged works from the Weimar period. In 1714, J.S. Bach, court organist in Weimar, encountered Vivaldi's "Inspiration of Harmony" Op.3 and enthusiastically adopted the "modern" Venetian style of concertos. Bach was enthusiastic about the Venetian "modern" concerto style, and he left behind a series of arrangements, including a solo organ piece. He was also a keen adopter of the Venetian "modern" concerto style, and left behind a number of arrangements, including solo organ pieces, which are interspersed with ritornello forms of tutti, in Bach's distinctive polyphonic style, making them as good as the original works. In addition to Bach, this album includes organ works by Bach's contemporaries Johann Gottfried Walter (1684-1748) and Johann Ernst IV, Duke of Saxony-Weimar (1696-1715). The colorful selection evokes the flourishing organ culture of the time. The Thuringian Bach Collegium is a group that performs on rare original stringed instruments and replicas. The main repertoire of the group consists of works by Bach and his contemporaries, and the audite label has released a collection of concertos by Prince Johann Ernst (AU-97769) and orchestral suites by Johann Bernhard Bach (1676-1749) (AU-97770).
